Georgia College hosts an excellent annual Constitution Week celebration, including an event focused on U.S. Supreme Court cases from the prior term. This year, I joined a panel with lawyers who represented parties in Bostock v. Clayton County and Chiafalo v. Washington. We discussed sex-based employment discrimination, “faithless electors,” DACA, the legacy of departed Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, and the role of institutionalist Chief Justice John Roberts as Congress wages a bitter partisan battle for the Court’s future.
